Roll out of ICT course in 588 Navodaya Vidyalayas

Based on the goals of National Policy on ICT in School Education and National Curriculum Framework, Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET), National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has developed a three-year ICT in Education course for students of Classes VI-XII. The course is being rolled-out as pilot in all 588 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas across the country for the academic year 2014-15.

 

The course is being made available to all schools in the form of a DVD. The contents of the DVD are as follows:-

  1. Operating System (Ubuntu 12.04)

  2. Moodle learning management system

  3. Software applications (65+)

  4. Preparatory documents for conducting the course

  • Curricula for ICT in Education
  • System requirements for installing the Operating System (OS)
  • Installation instructions for Ubuntu 12.04  OS and Moodle learning platform    
  • Steps for  adding the course content, creating user accounts and enrolment in Moodle
  • Introduction to the objectives and organisation of the course in Moodle
  • Short description of software applications introduced in Year I
  • List of all 65+ software applications provided
  • Instructions to enable local language typing
